Diamond facts
Purchasing a diamond or a diamond ring can often be a daunting and overwhelming experience. To aid you in this momentous decision and important purchase, we have put together an educational page that we believe will be invaluable to you in helping you navigate your way through the world of loose diamonds and diamond engagement rings. We will also educate you on the uniqueness and beauty of super-ideal cut hearts and arrows diamond.
Diamond Cut
Out of all the factors with a diamond, cut is the most important. The cut of a diamond refers to its proportions. Diamonds are usually cut with 58 facets, or separate flat surfaces. These facets are placed at precise angles to each other to maximise the amount of light reflected through the diamond, producing the sparkle and beauty that can be seen. If the cut of a diamond is too shallow the light escapes through the pavilion before it can be reflected and if the cut is too deep the light escapes through the opposite side of the pavilion. With these types of diamonds you get no sparkle or fire.
Diamond Carat
The weight of a diamond is expressed in carats. One carat is divided into 100 points, so a diamond weighing one quarter of a carat can also be described as weighing 0.25 carats.

Diamond Color
The best colour for a diamond is not to have any colour at all. Diamonds allow light to be reflected and dispersed as a rainbow of colour. The absolute finest colourless stone carries a D rating, descending through each letter of the alphabet to Z.
Diamond Clarity
The clarity of a diamond refers to how clear or clean the diamond is. The clarity scale is a measure of the severity of those imperfections or inclusions as it is known in the trade.
Hearts and Arrows
Hearts & Arrows is the term used for super ideal cut diamonds that exhibit a complete and precise Hearts & Arrows pattern. Hearts & Arrows diamonds have three distinguishing factors – perfection in polish, symmetry, and proportion. This effect is attained when all the facets are precisely aligned and the diamonds are cut and polished to perfection. Hearts & Arrows diamond is a perfectly cut round brilliant diamond, which in addition to being ideal in proportion, is totally symmetrical and perfectly polished. In order for the diamond to attract and reflect the maximum amount of light, it must be cut with expert craftsmanship, precision and control. When these fine cutting techniques are employed, they produce diamonds that excel in brilliance, fire and scintillation.
